MONTALVO ANNOUNCES NEW CUSTOMIZABLE WEB SENSING
ROLL
The Montalvo Corporation, international
specialists in industrial web control systems, announces its new
TNT-Series web tension sensing roll.
It features a unique Montalvo-designed, highly
sensitive strain gauge system and a high-performance lightweight,
low-inertia aluminum tube manufactured by Componex™ which combine to
produce an integrated sensing roll "that will fit virtually any
application," says Ed Montalvo.
The roller offers flexible mounting options
and customizable roll widths.
The
TNT roll can be ordered in a wide variety of sizes (from 80mm
diameter), lengths, and load ranges (from 125N). It is a versatile
machine component for both OEMs and end users.
Other features:
• Only one connector is needed
• Drop-in replacement
• Shaft ends can be customized.
Montalvo says it works as follows: The strain
gauges of the TNT-series load cell form a full bridge configuration.
The force from the tension on the web bends the sensing beams
(mounted internally on each end of the roll) and, as a result, the
resistance of each strain gauge changes to produce an output signal
proportional to the web’s tension.

Montalvo
Introduces U Series Load Cells
As a replacement
and upgrade to its popular UPB Series of Load Cells, Montalvo has
introduced the U-Series. This new load cell is constructed of stainless
steel and carries an IP67 classification, water resistant protection
rating. In addition, the product will be supplied ready to mount a
customer supplied, pillow block bearing. There is no additional
machining required.
The low profile
design permits more accurate measurement of tension in any moving web
due to a new beam design and limited response to non-tension related
forces.
The U-Series is
manufactured in two standard sizes, U50 and U75, with load rating up to
5000 Lbs, and one special order size, U125, which is available in load
rating as high as 15000 Lbs.
